Winter Skincare Tips

Winter skin care tips

Throughout the year it’s important to look after your skin, however, depending on the season you should pay attention to your skincare routine and also evaluate if it is time to make some changes that will improve it.

We all know the winter months, wind, and cold weather have a high impact on our skin, either because it makes our skin super dry or even irritates it.

This is why we should all have a winter skin care routine...

We all have been reading, listening or watching some of the common advice to keep your skin happy and all of them include moisturise, moisturise, moisturise but let’s have a deeper look at what you should keep an eye on!

Star from the inside out

It’s just as easy as drinking more water! Yes! Drink water, but be serious and even be aware of how much water you are actually drinking during the day. There's a lack of proof on how actually water consumption impacts skin hydration or overall appearance BUT drinking water is necessary for our bodies to run optimally, and to help nutrients reach the skin through proper blood flow, so the truth is that when you drink water, it doesn't automatically go to the skin—it hydrates your cells plus many people have reported having more radiant or clear skin after increasing their water intake.

Please DO NOT FORGET TO APPLY sunscreen

Even when the day looks grey and it's all foggy you have to. Apply sunscreen during the winter months as you would do during summer, including hands, neck, and face.

One of the main reasons for aging skin would be avoided if people just applied sunscreen and avoided skin damage.

Check out your cleanser

The majority of the main street cleansers are full of harmful chemicals that can be anything but gentle to your skin. Alcohol or any fragrances will eventually damage dry, cracked skin, as they swap away natural oils. You can go for gentle options such as our cleansing water or cream cleanser.

Lukewarm shower

Lukewarm water is the key! But why? Extremely hot water will dehydrate your skin and also will swap away the essential oils from your body. What’s the best practice? Right after taking your shower the best you can do is hydrate your skin. Keep in mind products with ceramides as well as hyaluronic acid to keep the barrier of your skin from losing water.

So remember no more hot shower during the winter months...

Upgrade your moisturiser

Quite obvious but moisturising your skin is essential during winter, and to be honest every single season! Oil-based products rather than water-based are a great option to keep important hydrating oils in your skin, this will help keep skin hydrated.

This applies to all your body not just your face, don’t forget your hands and your feet!

Exfoliate but not too much

Depending on your skin types right? For some of you, depending on the number of dead skin cells you have it will be ok to add exfoliation to your skincare routine twice a week or even more and for others just once a week.

The thing is to pick natural plant-based face masks like matcha + spinach, aloe + moringa or even the hibiscus flowers face mask which is like a natural botox!

These are not just rich nutrients for your skin, they are also eco-friendly!

To takeaway!

I always love to say that people start doing a skin care routine when they start seeing fine lines or dry skin and so on…

Aging is something inevitable but you can delay the aging process by taking action and doing skincare now to have healthy skin:)
